I'm so happy you're here! Enjoy class, watch as many times through as you need! 

Remember this is your class, so theres no right or wrong way to learn. 

Maybe you do best taking notes first then painting, maybe you watch once, then paint along the second time and pause as you go! maybe you watch it a few times and paint when you're ready. It's completely up to you!

• Find at least one model or mannequin to start painting on! The best way to get better at something is PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!
• Practice the paddle hold- seems so simple but it makes a huge difference in your organization while painting! 
• Use your favorite lightener first. By starting with a lightener you're already comfortable with, you're going to be more at ease when trying out painting for the first time (if this is your first time). 
• Start with a lower volume developer and bump it up as you go. This will allow you some time while you're starting and painting slower. 
• Know that you do NOT have to paint as fast as I do, now or ever really. Focus on the structure of your piece. If you're using a model for your first painting, I recommend taking bigger sections for a more subtle end result, but it will allow you time to focus on your brush angles and pressure, and not be in a rush to get done. 
• I don't show it well in this video, but try to keep your back section saran wrap separate from the front. that way if the back is done processing before the front you can gently slide off the back section and rinse in the bowl, without disturbing the front. 
• We will be going over all these details each week. With each different technique you'll still be applying most of these fundamentals. Each time you do a model or work on a mannequin, make yourself a goal for that particular head of hair. If you need help setting goals please feel free to reach out in the Facebook group! • Lastly remember that balayage means "to sweep" so lets SWEEP! Sweep the lightener on. The number one thing I see keeping people from achieving a smoothly painted piece is they slap or stab the lightener into the hair, keep the motion fluid. You'll get the hang of it in no time!
